Because some euro coins are in great demand among collectors and exceed their face value several times.
But how do you recognize them?
For example, rare minted 10-cent coins are offered on eBay for several hundred euros.
Rare mints, for example, have a missing feature or two identical pages. So when a coin has two sides.
But a lot of money is paid for weaknesses in embossing or even if the front and back are not at the same angle.
Further flaws can significantly increase the value of a coin. However, many embossing machines already recognize during production if an error has occurred. This is why faux coins are extremely rare – and therefore valuable.
Possible false minting is also called so-called scrambled egg coins, i.e. if the inside is minted slightly higher than the outside edge. Or if the color seems to be gone.
Old maps are also a popular misprint. These are old euro coins with the EU enlargement missing on the payment side.
Coins from even smaller states, such as the Vatican or Monaco, can be worth several times their face value.
Because the number of coins in these smaller countries is usually more limited.
The year of issue and the version with which they were made are decisive.
