Indian Wells – Monday 03/14/2022 11:36 pm
After his heroic fight against Sebastian Korda in the second round of the ATP 1000 tournament at Indian Wells, Rafael Nadal has little problems in the round of 32.
The 35-year-old Majorcan had only a few problems in the first set against Daniel Evans of Great Britain, but after 1:43 hours of play he used his first match point to win 7:5, 6:3.
The opening sentence didn’t go as planned: Nadal had to give up his serve in the third game. Evans confirmed the break, but his Spanish opponent managed the rebreak at 4:4. At 5:5 p.m., Evans misses another breakball and has to miss the serve to lose the set.
In the second set, Nadal quickly goes 3-0 up, hardly burns anything on his serve and works confidently to win the match. The number four player in the tennis world also won his 17th match in 2022.
The 21-time Grand Slam winner will face either the USA’s Riley Opelka or Canada’s Denis Shapovalov in the Round of 16 at the ATP Masters in California.
