After his arrest, the murderer claimed to be out of anger towards the women. He is accused of 10 murders and 16 attempted murders. In the process, he appealed to insanity.
The defendant drove a full-speed van on 23 April 2018 on a sidewalk in Canada’s second largest city center. Eight women and two men between the ages of 22 and 94 died and 16 others were injured when he was 2.1 kilometers across the pavement. He looks confused in the video footage from that time. Since he confessed to the crime, the trial was mainly about his state of mind and whether he should be held responsible for the crime.
