Former Moose Jaws Warriors Corson Ceulemans U18 Ice Hockey World Championship Friday night was a tough night for Team Canada.

Seoulmans scored the sixth goal for his team and ended the night with 3 points when Canada beat Switzerland 7–0 at Freesco, Texas.

The 17-year-old Regina was selected in the fifth round, a total of 100 in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft, but was selected for the NCAA route and has been a good fit with the Brooks Bandits in the AJHL since then. The decision certainly did not hurt – the Ceulemans were voted for the 11th time by scouting organizations for the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.

Defending warrior Denton Matichuk was also in the fight, but did not appear in the ratings.

The news was also good for Warriors goalkeeper coach Matt Winger, who plays the same role for Team Canada, watching Seattle Thunderbirds goalkeeper Thomas Millick for every eleven shot he faced to win the lockdown.

Francesco Benelli (Kitchener Rangers) scored three goals and finished the Canadian attack with four points, while Conor Bidard gave Regina Bates his first goal of the tournament. Dylan Guenther (King of Edmonton Oil) and Brennan Osman (Flint Firebirds) put up their other flags.

With this win, Canada improved to 3–0 in Group A and finished first in the quarter-finals on Monday, ahead of Warriors striker Martin Resavi and the Czech Republic.

Earlier, however, there was still work to be done as Canada ended Rubin’s tour against Belarus on Saturday night.

Rasavi and Czech will also play on Saturday when they play their final group game against Russia. Czech Republic 1–1–1, two points behind United States in Group B.

The semi-finals will be held on Wednesday and the medal game will be on Thursday.
