Following the day-long blockade of the Suez Canal by the ravaged tanker “Ever Given”, Egypt is pulling out results in March and expanding part of the shipping route. Suez Canal Authority (SCA) chief Osama Rabi announced before the head of state Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Tuesday that the southern part of the busy waterway should be expanded and deepened.

The SCA specifically plans to widen the area of ​​30 kilometers between the city of Suez and the bitter lakes by 40 meters and deepen it to six feet (about 1.8 meters). The extension should be ready in two years at the latest.
