WhatsApp is testing a new mode that should be exciting for many users. With the new function, chat messages should be able to disappear by default after a certain period of time.
In late 2020, WhatsApp started a new task with so-called self-erasing messages. From then on, users can give their messages an expiration date. If this feature is activated, messages are visible to the chat partner for seven days, after which they disappear automatically. According to the report of the portal Wabetaininfo.com, now this function should also find its mode.

A new mode may be included in upcoming updates
WhatsApp is currently testing the new “Disappearing Mode”, which aims to improve user privacy. When the test is complete, it can be included in one of the upcoming WhatsApp updates for iOS and Android, writes Wabetainfo. It is not clear from the report when exactly this will happen.
As soon as the mode has been delivered via update, users will find it in the app settings under Account and Data Protection, between the previous entries “Blocked” and “Read Receipt”. Then the function should be able to activate via a slider, which is turned off by default.
If so, auto-disappearing messages are defined as standard in all new chats. Until now, users had to painstakingly set the function manually in the respective chat partner’s contact information.
