As part of Google I / O, the company also has new features for its own map service Presented. Google Maps is getting a new root option. Users have the option of showing safe routes. This feature should be particularly useful for drivers.
Because on the basis of existing map data, Google Maps calculates the route on which the risk of accidents is less. For example, the number of streets on roads, reported accidents or construction sites that place an additional burden on traffic are included. Of course, the safest route is not always the shortest. In addition, Google Maps should improve the Live View feature with an overlay on the smartphone display. So you can record the surroundings and get important information about the shops or sites being displayed directly.
The “busy area” feature can be equally practical. It shows directly on the Google Maps map whether an area of a city is running higher than normal. Then you can either avoid them or throw yourself into the ground, if it is allowed again.
Last but not least, Google Maps needs to be even more personal. Depending on the time of day and your own position, the map decides which locations to show nearby. For example, at 8 am, bakery and cafes are more likely to show up. In the evening, the display changes to the restaurant.
