Canada sinks tournament favorite Russia into Valley of Tears – Finland brings Czech Republic to its knees

The Ice Hockey World Championships continued on Thursday evening with two quarter-finals. In the battle of prestige an outsider had won and Fantastic battle at eye level with the favorite winning.

But first things first: the hit between Russia and Canada kept everything the two arch rivals had already promised. Not as expected, big favorites Russia clearly scheduled the event, but both teams put up an intense battle at eye level. In the end, Canada had the better of overtime. Mangiapane scored a 1-2 winning goal after a remarkable combination.

The parallel game was not for the faint of heart either. The ending of the favorite “Legionette” was better. Finland celebrated a narrow 1–0 victory against the Czech Republic after a spectacular match. The decisive blow fell in the middle third.
