Microsoft and Bethesda: Forza, Halo, The Outer Worlds, Starfield, and more news

Microsoft’s E3 presentation was a fireworks display of announcements. While a large number of announcements were to be expected following the acquisition in recent years, the numbers are surprising: Halo, The Outer Worlds, Forza Horizon, Starfield and Vampire were the stars of a Left 4 Dead show.

a new forza horizon

In Forza Horizon 5, Microsoft lets Mexico experience everything from deserts and canyons to forests and historical ruins. Weather in each of the four seasons should now affect each region differently. Heavy rains, for example, make some forest areas impassable, the developers explain. Players’ decisions should also affect the outcome of story missions. In addition to the poster car of the fifth part Mercedes-AMG Project One, there are again hundreds of vehicles waiting in the fleet, which can now be hidden as gifts by placing them on the map as the barn is discovered. Ray tracing is also used in Forzavista mode.

Forza Horizon 5 will appear on November 5th for buyers of the more expensive Luxury Editions, with Standard Edition buyers waiting four more days. The platforms are interesting: the racing game appears for the Xbox Series S and X as well as PC, but is here in both the Microsoft Store and Steam.

Hello Infinite is coming this year

According to Microsoft, Halo Infinity and its free-to-play multiplayer will go on sale for the holiday season at the end of the year. The company did not give an exact date and instead insisted on a change to multiplayer based on criticism from last year.

outside world 2

Obsidian’s spiritual successor to Fallout: New Vegas continues in a new solar system. The video material fits the setting perfectly, a satire on capitalist activities: it parodies the structure of the trailers and also suggests that the project is still in a very early stage. Therefore publication should be expected only in 2023.

Starfield is out next year

Microsoft Starfield describes the first new universe Bethesda created in 25 years. The sci-fi role-playing game now has a release date: it should be ready on November 11, 2022.

redfall al vampire-left-4-dead

The show’s surprise was Redfall, which Arkane Studios deals with time loop shooter Deathloop, which has been postponed several times. Redfall also takes place on an island, but is designed as a cooperative shooter for three players, who can choose between four characters with different abilities to alter their alter egos. You can choose between a former sniper and a young lady with telekinesis.

From the summer of 2022, players will be able to freely move around the island city. It was overrun not by zombies, but by vampires. However, the developers are yet to show the gameplay. The similarities to Valve’s co-op classic Left 4 Dead are already clear: A vampire can pull players in with a “mental harpoon” that sounds suspiciously like a smoker with its long pulled tongue.

indie announcements

The show was also full of small announcements. Psychonauts 2, for example, will release on August 25, with indie adventure A Plague Tale getting a sequel to Slim Rancher.

The trailer of Atomic Heart was also interesting. The title, which is not even anchored in a genre, is set in 1955 in the Soviet Union, but in an alternate timeline, where the Internet, holograms and robots have already been invented. The setting is the factory, with which contact is lost and the player discovers the secret agent as “P-3”.
