A few days ago, the Bertelsmann Group announced that Liz Mohan is handing over the office of spokesperson for the family to her son. Now 80-year-old Bertelsmann is also vacating her position on the Stiftung executive board. However, the head of the family resides with the non-profit organization in a separate ceremony.

On her 80th birthday, Liz Mohan Bertelsmann is stepping down from the Stiftung executive board. The Foundation has announced this with reference to the applicable statutes and the age limit specified therein. According to the announcement, Liz Mohan will remain with the foundation as a worldwide representative. In addition, she remains an honorary member of the Board of Trustees.

“Economic issues with a focus on international understanding, contemporary management and cultural projects – themes to which Liz Mohan has long been committed, will be bundled in the new Liz Mohan Center in the Bertelsmann Stiftung in the future,” the foundation announced. Along with daughter Brigitte Mohan, the family will continue to be represented on the foundation’s board of directors.

On June 11, Bertelsmann announced that Liz Mohan would hand over the position of family spokesperson at Bertelsmann Management Company to her son, Christoph Mohan. There he represented the interests of the charitable Bertelsmann Foundation and the family’s shareholders. The foundation was founded in 1977 and is owned by the family (about 20 percent) of the Bertelsmann Group.

More than 363 employees worked for the foundation in 2020. Last year, 74 million euros flowed into various projects. With over 132,000 employees worldwide, Bertelsmann Group achieved sales of approximately €17.3 billion in 2020. In addition to Penguin Random House, the group includes TV conglomerate RTL Group, Hamburg magazine publisher Gruner + Jahr, music company BMG and service provider Arvato.
