Dresden. DSC Volleyball players have had the best experience ever with Canadian players. Whether attacker Shanice Marcel (2013–15), middle blocker Jennifer Cross (2015–17) or more recently setter Brie King (2019/20) – all three were top performers and won titles with the team. Lene Van Buskirk, who was officially introduced by video conversation yesterday as the sixth new addition by the six-time German champion, now has that target.

As already reported by DNN, the Canadian national player is moving to the Elbe from French first-class volleyball club Chamelires. The 23-year-old medium blocker initially signs for one year. Of course, she first got to know about the club from two of her colleagues and friends Jennifer Krauss and Brie King.
“Both won titles with Dresden and they only reported positive things, including about the city,” the 1.92m tall athlete, who hails from Windsor/Ontario, revealed. Other offers from France, the Bundesliga and Hungary were turned down. She hopes to take the next step in her career with a team that is playing for the title and setting high goals.
The Canadian, who has played five internationals for his country so far, makes late starts in volleyball. Because she started playing tennis at the age of five. “I didn’t switch to volleyball until I was 16 because I grew up so quickly and some said I should try the sport. I tried that and then got stuck there,” she says with a laugh. Years later he received his first placement in the junior selection. He then gained further experience at the University of Pittsburgh, where he studied communications.
Coach Alexandre Wieble knows he has great potential: “Of course, after Camilla Weitzel left, I wanted a taller again. With Monique Straube and Madeleine Gates, we already have two middle blockers in the first six.” There is potential. All three players have different skills and so we can all incorporate them.” He also believes that he is an open, fearless person who fits in very well with the team.
As Managing Director Sandra Zimmerman also pointed out, the season will definitely be 2/3. Start October. It is still open whether the Supercup will start at the start or will be the first Bundesliga games. Alexandre Wieble definitely wants to start preparations from July 27.
