Power change in Lidl and Kaufland: dispute with discount supermarket king Dieter Schwarz

Power Transformation at One of the Biggest German Grocers!

Lidl’s mentor and Schwarz Group owner Dieter Schwarz (81) has sent its managing director, Claus Gehrig (73), on leave.

Now Schwarz wants to take control of the company he founded in 1973. It is informed by, among other things “food newspaper“. The Schwarz group includes Lidl and Kaufland.

Schwarz Group announced on Friday that Klaus Gehrig has resigned because he was unable to come to an agreement with owner Dieter Schwarz on a personal matter that was very important to him.

Klaus Gehrig is considered the architect of the retail conglomerate that created the Schwarz Group, along with Lidl and Kaufland, one of the largest retailers in the world.

Gehrig even made his boss Dieter Schwarz extremely wealthy: the Lidl patriarch is the richest German with an estimated net worth of over 30 billion euros!

The Schwarz Group announced that Dieter Schwarz had discharged Gehrig with the condition that further discussions should regulate further cooperation.

He also thanked them for the great development work done in the last few years. The relationship between Dieter Schwarz and Klaus Gehrig is still undeterred.

Schwarz will now play the role of general partner until designated Gehrig successor and current Lidl boss Gerd Krzanowski can take the mandate.
