Canadian shares rise at the close of trading; S&P/TSX up 0.27% on Investing.com

Investing.com – Canada’s shares edged higher after Monday’s close, and moved higher.

It added 0.27% at the close of trading in Toronto to hit a new all-time high.

Best performance of the season provided Cascade Inc. (TSX:), which closed 5.35% or 0.81 points higher at 15.95. Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited (TSX:) meanwhile added 4.12% or 22.13 points to end at 559.13. Brookfield Business Partners The LP (TSX:) rose 3.71%, or 2.11 points, to 59.00 at the close of trade.

worst performance of the season Aritzia Inc. (TSX:), which closed 3.27% or 1.23 points lower at 36.24 in late trading. Intertep Polymer Group Inc. (TSX:) closed at 28.37, down 3.07% or 0.90 points. Russell Metals Inc. (TSX:) was down 1.74%, or 0.60 points, at 33.91.

There was no change in the shares moving from 504 to 450 and 112 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

Shares of Brookfield Business Partners LP (TSX:) hit 52-week high; Moving from 3.71% or 2.11 to 59.00.

The S&P/TSX, which measures the implied volatility of options, was unchanged at 0% at 11.27.

Gold futures for August delivery rose 0.49%, or $8.70, to $1,792.00 per troy ounce. Elsewhere in the commodity trade, crude for delivery in August rose 1.56%, or $1.17, to $76.33 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.30 per cent, or $0.99, to $77.16 a barrel.

CAD/USD was down 0.08% at 0.8105, while CAD/EUR was down 0.12% at 0.6830.

US dollar index futures were down 0.23% at 92.198.
