In Rust and Stuttgart you can now stroll through paintings by Franz Marc or Piet Mondrian with VR glasses. Is that pure bells and whistles or is it a great form of low-threshold art education?
A good painting brings life to the eyes of the beholder. The colours, shapes and representations in large works provide a great vitality, despite the limitations of the two-dimensional format, the subject of an artist feels drawn out.
Are further steps still needed? Do you really have to be able to walk through works of art in three dimensions in a virtual space?
You can do this at Rust as well as the Kunstmuseum Stuttgart. “Artity” is the name of the format that can be seen permanently in Stuttgart and beyond this weekend in Yulbe, on the edge of Europa-Park. Yulebe is a new offering from Mac-Next, where you can explore strange worlds with virtual reality glasses. For example, when walking into a room, one experiences the illusion of moving freely through landscapes or chasing imaginary characters.
