Germany’s biggest pig butcher is looking for investors. This should resolve the ongoing deadlock in the family business.

Düsseldorf, Frankfurt The group of interested parties for Tonnies Slaughterhouse has thinned out. So what’s left is the Brazilian Butcher JBS and Taiwanese food company Uni-President, as Handelsblatt learned from knowledgeable circles. Other competitors such as US groups Tyson Foods And financial investors have pulled out of the bidding process.

Private equity funds are reluctant to work with a slaughterhouse because they are committed to environmental, social and corporate governance norms. Insiders said the Middle East state fund also denied for religious reasons the fact that the financial investors to whom they lent money were interested in joining a pig butcher.
