Many young tennis players are looking forward to the event and one of them is undoubtedly the twenty-year-old Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassim. Felix is considered one of the most promising athletes in the world and despite being only 20 years old, he is already in the top 15 and long ago among the top 20 tennis players in the world.
Felix Auger-Aliasim gave an interesting interview to ITF World Microphone and covered a wide range of topics, from the Olympics to his tennis experience.
Words of Felix Auger-Aliasime
Referring to the Olympics, Felix said: “I remember exactly when I watched the 2008 opening ceremony in Beijing, I looked at all the Canadian tennis players and imagined who could go on to medal.
It was fantastic and I already dreamed of running in the same place they were running the day after. I think everything that happened to me about 13 years ago and during that time is fantastic.
I am really looking forward to this event, Olympic Games is a dream for me, it is about being one of the best people in the world in your sport. To say that I am an Olympian at the age of 20 is special.
Now I want to compete and win games, for that I am going to Tokyo to compete and try my best till the end. Our generation is getting good results and it is great to be a part of it.
Growing up in Canada was wonderful, I had all the opportunities to grow and become the player I am now. It is heartening to see the impact we are having and I hope this is just the beginning for us.
I’m ready to leap in quality and get closer to the best, I’ve already seen excellent results at Wimbledon and I don’t want to stop, although I know it won’t be easy. Photo Credit: AELTC/Jonathan Knackstrand-Pool/Getty Images
