Lamborghini is reviving the legendary Countach. 50 years after the premiere of the super sports car, the Italian automaker has now announced a new small series in the spirit of the original at the Concours d’Elegance in Pebble Beach (USA).

Lamborghini wants to make the Countach LPI 800-4 model exactly 112 times – and charge around two million euros for each.

Technically, the new Countach is closely related to the current Lamborghini top model Aventador. The carbon fiber body is almost as wedge-shaped and sleek as the original, which was considered a symbol of the super sports car in the 1970s and 1980s.

V12 engine with all-wheel drive

The Italians also stick to the original when it comes to the drive, which will be housed under the glass behind the two seats. You install a V12 engine again, which now drives all four wheels.

However, the engine comes from the short series Cyan from 2020 thus forming a bridge to the future. Because in addition to the 574 kW/780 PS of the 6.5-litre twelve-cylinder, there is another 25 kW/34 PS from the electric motor integrated into the transmission.

Even if the Countach can’t drive electrically with it, it will be the forerunner of the first pure Lamborghini electric car, which company boss Stefan Winkelmann has announced for the year 2025.

Totaling 599 KW / 814 hp, the modern era Countach accelerates from standstill to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds and reaches 355 km/h at full speed. This is about 50 km/h faster than the first Countach.
