He tricked the woman into believing he was in love, with the 69-year-old falling for a false declaration of love by a cheater. As reported by the police, Schoenwald’s woman was the victim of a so-called “love scamming” scandal a few days ago.
The woman had relied on the internet an alleged Canadian doctor who was apparently the victim of an attack in Syria. Even when he asked her for several thousand euros for help, she did not suspect at first. Since the woman could not raise the money, she also took a loan.
After some time, however, he questions this decision when a man pretending to be Axel’s Greg Vincent again asked for a cash payment. When she informed the police and learned that she was the victim of a fraud, her alleged happiness was shattered in a jiffy. The money he transferred initially has already been posted to a Lithuanian account. The second requested amount was not transferred.
The police urge caution in such relationships. The scam known as the “Nigeria Connection” is no longer limited to mass emails with absurd promises of profit, but occurs in this form as well. Police advise that money claims from unknown acquaintances should be ignored or the participant should be blocked altogether.
