Investing.com – Canadian shares fell after Monday’s close as prices plunged.

Down 0.15%, close of business in Toronto.

Best performance of the season in Render Village Farms International Inc. (TSX:), which closed 6.09% or 0.68 points higher at 11.85. Home Capital Group Inc (TSX:) meanwhile added 5.91% or 2.35 points to end at 42.10. Canaccord Genuity Group Inc (TSX:) was up 5.06%, or 0.71 points, at 14.74 at the close of trade.

worst performance of the season Organigram Holdings Inc. (TSX:), which closed down 13.30%, or 0.48 points, at 3.13 in late trading. Vermilion Energy Inc. (TSX:) closed at 8.36, down 5.96% or 0.53 points. Altus Group Limited (TSX:) was down 5.53% or 3.77 points at 64.39.

The number of falling shares on the Toronto Stock Exchange increased from 658 to 327 and 103 remained unchanged.

Shares of Home Capital Group Inc. (TSX:) climbed higher; Added 5.91% or 2.35 to 42.10. Shares of Canaccord Genuity Group Inc (TSX:) surged higher; rising from 5.06% or 0.71 to 14.74.

The S&P/TSX, which measures the implied volatility of options, was unchanged at 0% at 11.27.

Gold futures for delivery in December rose 0.64%, or $11.30, to $1,789.50 per troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodity trading, crude for delivery in October fell 1.38%, or 0.94, to $67.27 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract was down 1.20%, or 0.85, to trade at $69.74 a barrel.

CAD/USD was down 0.39% at 0.7955, while CAD/EUR was down 0.20% at 0.6755.

US dollar index futures were up 0.12% at 92.623.
