duerer | “Canada” | New single faces doubt

Self-doubt, seek, seek, lose yourself. A very human process that everyone goes through. Thuringian indie rock duo Dedicated their new single “Canada” to the resulting diffuse sentiments. Watch the video for the song at the bottom of our page.

And as powerful as two men from Dürer (called Daniel Matz and Danny Muller-Sixer) appear on “Canada”—the song isn’t a purely optimistic “push-you-through-the-crisis” anthem. Instead, the two are concerned with throwing on a broader view and questioning the pressure that comes with the crisis, in a nutshell: “Canada” creates a place where there is none.

Because that’s what “Canada” is. not a goal that needs to be achieved – or that is achievable – but a state of mind, where everything is open: “Everyone has already gone through their own personal ‘Canada’. That is, when it is not clear where to go, what do you want in life. ‘Canada’ is a metaphor for this campaign, Which more or less we have made behind us or which we still have to leave behind.”

In the video, the two band members can be seen roaming the forest landscape – one with a suitcase, the other with a mannequin – until they meet in an open field. The result of their encounter is a retrospective in fast motion: a visual representation of the moment of reflection that has already been set out in the text.

Most recently, Dürer released the EP “Zugvogel” in 2019, which he released with a short tour. “Canada” is the first taste of their debut album, planned for 2022.
