The Swiss ice hockey national team is defeated by Canada at the World Cup in Calgary with 0:5 without the injured Alina Müller.

The World Cup in Calgary against the mighty Canada had nothing to gain for the Swiss women. Thanks to a strong Andrea Brandli, who was able to withstand 21 shots in the opening third, Switzerland saved 0–0 in the first break. In the middle section, however, the Canadians could no longer be stopped. Emily Clark scored in the 26th minute, a little more than 10 minutes after it was already 0:4 from the Swiss’ point of view.

After 0:5 by Natalie Spooner, Brandley substituted for Saskia Maurer, who survived the final 19 minutes without a goal.

Mueller missing injured

Switzerland played the third group game without Alina Müller. The 23-year-old was injured in the game (1:3) against Russia and was unwilling to play against Canada. It is unknown how serious the key player’s injury is and whether she will be able to return to the ice during the tournament.

Last group match against Finland

On Thursday at 8 p.m. Swiss time, the national hockey team will conclude the preliminary round with a game against Finland, which is still scoreless. The mode stipulates that all teams in Group A with Switzerland, to be assessed more strongly, advance to the quarter-finals, while only the first 3 teams from Group B enter the knockout stage.
