New in iPadOS 15: iPhone apps can now be opened in landscape mode too

Not all apps available in the App Store are optimized for iPhones and iPads at the same time. A well-known example is the social network Instagram, whose app is currently only available for the iPhone. Since the release of the first iPad, iPhone apps could still be installed on Apple tablets, but recently it was necessary to switch the tablet to portrait mode when opening it, as iPhone apps could not be used in landscape mode .

With the release of iPadOS 15, this minor flaw is now gone. If you prefer, you can now view iPhone apps in the iPad’s landscape mode without turning on the tablet. Apple also provides an enlargement function to be able to display iPhone apps in height at least to fill the screen.

Especially iPhone games can benefit

There’s definitely a lot of free space on the left and right sides, as the app continues to appear on the screen in iPhone-optimized view – unless the opened iPhone app also supports landscape mode. Unfortunately, that’s not the case with Instagram, but especially with some iPhone games you should have a better experience on an iPad with the new landscape display.

Of course, an iPhone app can still be displayed in the iPad’s portrait mode if you prefer. However, with iPadOS 15, there is at least one better option to be able to display pure iPhone applications on a tablet in a more optimized manner.

Do you have iPhone apps that you regularly use on the iPad? If so, what are they? Which app would you like iPad customization from? We are waiting for your comments.
