Eisenach's Lord Mayor Wolf dismisses rumors of "cold plant closures" at Opel

Eisenach’s Lord Mayor Katja Wolf (left) doesn’t justify fears about Opal’s possible “cold plant closure” in Eisenach. In an interview with MDR Ektuel, Wolf said she knew the situation was difficult for automakers due to global distribution constraints. She expects that the closure of the Opel plant in Eisenach will really only be temporary and that production will resume as soon as possible.

Wolf said she was in contact with plant management, the Stelantis Group and the Works Council. There are positive signs from all these sides. It is confident that everything will be done in Eisenach to make the plant future-friendly and prepare for the new Opel model. Wolf was convinced that the value of the Eisenach location with “its highly motivated workforce and lean production” became well known in the group.

Short time work at Opel in Eisenach until the end of the year

Jagran was held on Monday at the Opal plant in Eisenach. The newly established Solidarity Group called for a “fight for every job and apprenticeship position in Opel Eisenach and its suppliers”. According to this, there are indications that the Opel plant in Eisenach is not only to be closed for three months, but an initiative has been taken to close a cold plant. The entire warehouse must be emptied, which is not even before the factory holidays.
