RB Leipzig’s pros on an international trip: Forsberg scores for Sweden, Leimer for Austria

RB Leipzigs Emil Forsberg brachte seine Schweden im WM-Qualispiel gegen den Kosovo auf die Siegerstraße.

Leipzig. RB professionals Emil Forsberg and Konrad Laimer advanced their national teams in qualifying for the World Cup and thus laid the foundation for a clear victory. The blonde Swede brought up his eleven at home 3-0 against Kosovo with a penalty in hand after video evidence. Midfield ace Laimer ended a lean period for the Austrians in a 2–0 victory in the Faroe Islands, which extended to 2–0 thanks to Marcel Sabitzer. Former Leipzig Stefan Ilsunker played in the last four. “Of course it was important to win, it wasn’t spectacular. But three points are important,” Limer said.

Denmark was also successful, winning 4–0 with Yusuf Poulsen in Moldova. The RB striker was directly involved in the fourth goal – a Mahle stab. On Tuesday, Poulson and Laimer will play their teams against each other. The Hungarians had a poor evening with Peter Gulasi, Willy Orban and Dominic Szoboszlai – they lost their ghost game against Albania 0:1 in Budapest.

Tyler Adams and the US Kickers topped the table in the World Cup qualifiers in North and Central America. Because trailing front runner Mexico got no more than 1:1 at home against chasing Canada on Friday night (German time), the Americans seized the opportunity. After a first 45 minutes of restraint, he used his superiority (17:5 shot on goal) to score two goals in the second half against lower group Jamaica.

Ricardo Pepi scored both goals for the US boys. Adams was the captain of his selection – he was replaced and spared in the final few minutes. Because on Monday night the number four in the American table can take the next big step towards the World Cup final to be held in Panama. On Thursday night, the game against Costa Rica follows, so that the Leipzig defensive midfielder may not return to Pleiss in time and be the first choice for coach Jesse Marsh at SC Freiburg next Saturday (kick-off 3.30 pm).
