The United States wants to open land borders with Canada and Mexico to vaccinated people

DThe United States also wants to reopen its land borders with Mexico and Canada to travelers in early November. One of the prerequisites announced on Wednesday as a high-ranking White House staffer is a proven vaccination against the coronavirus. At the end of September, Washington announced that it would lift entry restrictions by air for vaccinated EU citizens and British.

The exact date for the entry into force of the land and air entry rules will be announced “very soon”. They will follow the same schedule.

Entry restrictions imposed for a year and a half have recently become increasingly controversial in the United States. The then President Donald Trump imposed restrictions in March 2020 due to the pandemic. Trump’s successor Joe Biden initially adhered to entry restrictions after taking office in January. It also caused increasing criticism in the European Union and the United States.

Boeing mandates vaccination for 125,000 employees

US aircraft maker Boeing is meanwhile introducing mandatory vaccinations for contractors from US federal agencies as part of an order issued by President Joe Biden. “As of December 8, approximately 125,000 US employees will be required to either present a vaccination certificate or take recognized, appropriate protective measures as a result of a disability or conscientious religious beliefs,” Boeing said. American airlines American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, JetBlue Airways and Alaska Airlines, as well as aircraft parts maker Spirit Aerosystems, also announced they would adhere to the deadline set by Biden.
