The United Nations World Climate Conference begins in Scotland on Sunday, with nearly 200 countries participating. The day before, hundreds of activists demonstrated in Glasgow: “We are waiting for more ambitious measures,” he says.

Van Asbroek and 20 other members of the “Grandparents for the Climate” group took a train from Belgium to the Scottish capital Edinburgh and covered the final 75 kilometers to Glasgow.
Summit starts on Sunday
The demonstration on Saturday was the largest ever protest rally before the start of COP26. A larger performance has been announced for next Friday, with organizers expecting 100,000 participants. Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg also arrived in Glasgow on Saturday.

About 200 countries will hold talks in Glasgow from Sunday to further implement the Paris climate agreement. The agreement provides for a limit of 1.5 degrees of global warming to below two, if possible, compared to the pre-industrial era.
