Ski pair allowed to race in US without vaccination

Swiss ski pair Urs Krienbühl and Ralf Weber are still unvaccinated. They won’t start in Canada, but there is a “back door” to the United States.

Crazy story in Swiss Ski Circus! Urs Krienbühl and Ralph Weber are believed to have not been vaccinated. To participate in the Ski World Cup in Canada and the United States, usually only vaccinated athletes are allowed to enter. Both have to pass for Canada. Ski Aces has come up with a curious plan to race in the United States and Beaver Creek.

To be able to compete in the two Super-G and Downhill runs in the first week of December, you must arrive by November 8 at the latest, based on a special invitation from the Americans. It does not require vaccination. From November 8 you can enter the USA only with double vaccination. “We received a special invitation from the Americans months before the border opened. However, this invitation will no longer be valid from November 8,” explains Tom Stauffer, Swiss Ski Men’s Manager.

emergency training plan

An emergency training plan has also already been considered. Because the Swiss will only receive the slopes for ski training at Cooper Mountain from November 21, the two will travel south and bridge the gap after landing in Los Angeles on the evening of November 7. “From the airport in LA we’ll take the train to San Diego, which has some cheap outdoor training areas that unvaccinated athletes have access to,” Krienbuhl explains.

A “back door” that will certainly generate a lot of excitement…
