“very very cool”
“The Rock” Would Like To Be The Next Bond
As beautiful as the controversy over the best bond is, it begs the question: Who will be next? Daniel Craig’s favorite Jurgen Klopp had sacked him because he would remain a football coach, with “The Rock” Johnson now talking to himself.
Can Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson get a license to kill? The Hollywood megastar would at least want to see himself as a secret agent in Her Majesty’s service. He would not be the first person in the family to star in a Bond film. Peter Maivia, Johnson’s grandfather, was the villain in Sean Connery’s “James Bond 007 – You Only Live Twice”.
Johnson thinks the performance is “very, very good”, as he revealed in an interview with Esquire magazine. “And I want to follow in his footsteps and be the next Bond,” he continues. The star doesn’t want to portray one of the opponents, he has to be an agent.
Rather Idris Elba or Henry Cavill?
Even though the new “James Bond 007: No Time to Die” is a huge hit at the box office, Daniel Craig won’t be playing the role in the future. Even before the publication of his last Bond film, there had been widespread discussion about who might be his successor. In many places, the name Johnson was rarely mentioned.
Countless names have surfaced over the past few months – none of them have been confirmed yet. Frequently named examples were “Superman” actor Henry Cavill, “Bridgeton” star reggae-Jean Page and collaborators such as Tom Hardy, Sam Heughan, Richard Madden, James Norton and Idris Elba.
“Jurgen Klopp would be great”
One man that Craig himself brought into the game is considered an unlikely candidate. In an interview with “Welt am Sonntag”, a Liverpool fan asked in early October whether soccer coach Jurgen Klopp might be a good Bond rival: “Jurgen Klopp would be a great James Bond.”
A gender change in Bond was canceled even before the premiere of the previous Craig appearance: for a brief passionate debate about a potential female 007, the incumbent waved first, then Bond producer Barbara Broccoli second: as long as he’s in charge. Don’t be a woman, be the version of 007. This substantially limits the scope of potential successors.
