32 researchers have applied for the prize, which is endowed with 10,000 euros. Most applicants work in South Tyrol, for example at the research facilities of the Free University of Bozen, Urak or Lamborg. Further applications came from research centers in Innsbruck, Padua, Milan, Leiden and Munich.
Auer’s emergency physician, Simon Rauch, can look forward to the Junior Research Award this year. Merano, 37, runs the intensive care unit at the hospital, works on a rescue helicopter and conducts research at the Yurak Institute for Alpine Emergency Medicine. For him this award is a significant recognition of the work done by him and his team.
We are now even more motivated to advance alpine emergency medicine and improve patient care in this branch of emergency medicine.
