Elias as captain: German U20s travel to Canada

The German Under-20 national team leaves for the World Cup in Edmonton on Wednesday (26 December to 5 January). The captain of the team will be Mannheim DEL player Florian Elias.

Coach Tobias Abstrater’s team moved to Canada on Wednesday with three goalkeepers, eight defenders and 14 strikers. “The team is really looking forward to the tournament and certainly looking forward to playing against other teams,” Elias said before leaving Munich.

In Preliminary Group A, Germany will meet Finland (December 26, 8 p.m. CET), Czech Republic (December 27, 1 a.m.), Canada (December 29, 1 a.m.) at Rogers Place in Edmonton – home of the Oilers – boxing. Day) and Austria (December 31, at 8 p.m.). The German games as well as all subsequent games after the quarterfinals will be shown by MagentaSport.

Along with Stutzl, Reichl, Pieterka, three top players are missing

NHL candidates are John-Jason Pieterka and Lukas Reichl – as well as Tim Stutzl, who are already active in the NHL – but not there. North American generals were already missing from the initial 27-man squad.
