In fact, the young woman went to the doctor, Dr. Michael Norwegian, only because she had been on her period for about 14 days and started worrying.

However, when she arrived at the hospital, she received a shocking diagnosis: She had an ectopic pregnancy.

So the fertilized egg had not implanted itself in her uterus, but had moved on. In most ectopic pregnancies, it often – as the name suggests – begins to implant in the fallopian tube.

Something like this can rarely happen in the ovaries, cervix, or abdominal wall.

The case of the pregnant patient Dr. Norwegian, however, was particularly exceptional: “We found a baby in your liver,” said the doctor – still in disbelief. in a video on his Tiktok account.

“We see it sometimes in the stomach, but not in the liver. It’s a first for me.”

And it’s no surprise either! According to National Center for Biotechnology An ectopic pregnancy in the liver is “extremely rare”. Between 1964 and 1999, only 14 cases were reported worldwide so far.

Immediately after diagnosis, the patient was taken to the operating room. Although her life could have been saved there, unfortunately nothing more could be done for the fetus.

When asked how the fertilized egg cell is implanted in the liver, Dr. Norwegian another videoIn which he has explained the incident.

He began to revisit the topic of ectopic pregnancy before adding:

“However, it is possible that when the egg and sperm join together and then move to the other side [im Eileiter] migrate from the ovary to the peritoneum [Gewebe, das den Bauchraum auskleidet] You can build a nest.”

In the Canadian woman, however, the egg and sperm cells went “all the way into the liver”.,
