Police Inspection in Neubrandenburg

Newstrelitz (OTS)

In late November 2021, a man from the Neustrelitz area reported blackmailing the police in the residential town.

He told police headquarters officials how difficult it was for him to meet a male person on the internet. Both talked to each other. The complainant also sent photographs of himself and his personal data.

The further course of acquaintance took an unexpected turn when suddenly there was news of an alleged friend of an Internet acquaintance. In this, he was asked to give hush money of 2,000 euros. In one meeting, the money was actually handed over to the third party. When another demand was made from the man a few days later, he decided to file a criminal complaint with the police.

As part of an investigation by the officers of the Detective Office Neustrelitz, a man who was also a resident of the area has been identified as the likely culprit. In addition, the man can be linked to a similar offense committed in April of the same year.

In a recent apartment search, officers were able to seize items that further corroborated suspicion. In the interrogation that followed, the man confessed to a great extent.

Investigators do not rule out that victims of similar crimes may shy away from filing a criminal complaint and that a related uncharted territory exists. In this context, the police of the Mecklenburg Lake District expressly encourage victims of criminal offenses to visit any police station. There is also an option to register a criminal complaint digitally through the state police’s internet station. In any case, advertisements will be followed confidentially and without prejudice. In addition, they help protect other people from criminal offenses.

Comprehensive crime prevention provides good protection against criminal offences. Information material on various areas of crime including various threats on the Internet, such as “sextortion”, is available here www.polizei-beratung.de Offered.
