Former Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz is now the deputy chairman of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
At the European Council for Tolerance and Reconciliation (ECTR), the 35-year-old will fight against anti-Semitism and denial of the Holocaust on a voluntary basis.
During his time as head of government, Kurz clearly stood on the side of Israel and strongly opposed hatred of Jews.
ECTR President is Russian entrepreneur Vyacheslav Moshe Kantor. On Twitter, he wrote of the small commitment: “We haven’t found anyone better to lead us with passion, wisdom and determination.”
In addition to Blair (Chairman of the Board of Directors), the board also includes former premiers Jose Maria Ajner (Spain), Goran Persson (Sweden), Vaira Ve-Freiberga (Latvia) and Slovenia’s Milan Kusan (Slovenia).
According to the organization, the council, which was established in 2008, also includes Rita Süsmuth, the former president of the German Bundestag.
But Kurz will earn his money elsewhere. The 35-year-old takes a job in Silicon Valley as a “global strategist” at “Thiel Capital” – a company owned by German tech investor Peter Thiel.
Kurz resigned as federal chancellor in October following allegations of corruption.
Background is the investigation against him and the confidants for breach of trust, bribery and corruption. It is about the fake elections of 2017 that were published in the newspaper “Austria” and are said to have helped Kurz come to power.
