This women’s hockey team plays in the Olympics

The Olympic contingent of the Swiss national ice hockey team is well known. Head coach Colin Muller skips big surprises and could totally draw: star striker Alina Mueller is fit again after suffering a leg injury she sustained at the last World Cup. Just like Noemi Rayner, who suffered a knee injury at the start of the season.

Along with strikers Alina Muller, Lara Stalder, Evelina Raselli and Phoebe Stanz, as well as defender Sarah Forster, the five players celebrate their third participation in the Olympic Games after bronze in Sochi 2014 and 5th in Pyeongchang in 2018.

Colin Muller’s team aims to confirm World Cup achievements in Calgary and play for a medal again in Beijing. “I am absolutely confident of our team’s effectiveness and that we will continue to follow the path we have chosen at the Olympic Games,” says head coach Colin Muller. After two “bubble training sessions” on Monday 17 and Wednesday 19 January, the women’s national team will head to the OYM in Cham on Saturday 22 January to prepare for the Olympic Games.

Canada competes with a top team

Canada announced its squad for the women’s tournament yesterday. Maple leaves would also be a top gold favorite in Beijing. Of the 23 players who won the World Cup title last year, 22 have returned.

The Canadian team is led by Marie-Philippe Paulin. The striker is set to play his fourth Olympic game in Beijing and is still one of the best ice hockey players on the planet. It was Pauline who led Canada to victory in extra time for the World Cup final.

The team of Canada’s biggest challenger has been known since early January. The United States can count on its biggest stars, along with Hilary Knight, Amanda Kessel, and Kendall Coyne Schofield. (Abu)
