Along with iOS 15.3 and iPadOS 15.3, Apple has released new operating system versions for the iPhone and iPad. It fixes several security issues. The most significant update includes a fix for Safari, which leaked user information on websites.
The Safari bug was caught by FingerprintJS and a blog post documented, If you want, you can also see what the error enables and what data can be determined by the website operator on a demo page. Only 30 domain names are asked through the demo, an attacker can expand the list at will. With an exploit, a website operator can not only trigger Google’s user ID, but can also use it to obtain further personal information. The ID is used to make API requests to Google services. For example, you can quickly get a user’s profile picture this way.
iOS and iPadOS as well as macOS had a vulnerability that could give root rights to apps and thereby access personal data from the device.
The update also fixes other security issues where apps can gain root privileges to run arbitrary code with kernel privileges. The iCloud bug affecting third-party apps has also been fixed.
Updates to iOS 15.3 and iPadOS 15.3 can be installed over-the-air and you should do it as soon as possible to be able to work safely with iPhone and iPad again.
Our question: Do you install the update right away or do you give it a little more time?
