Operating System , Annoying warning about insecure passwords: iCloud Keychain will soon allow you to hide notifications

iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4 bring a new, somewhat questionable option for dealing with weak passwords. Warnings about potentially cracked passwords can now be hidden if necessary. Eventually, they can be shown again later.

iCloud Keychain is undoubtedly not the password manager with the most functions — above all, it can’t be used across platforms — but it does provide the tools needed for daily handling of passwords. It also means that the user is warned if the passwords are not secure or have already been cracked as per the current rules for secure passwords.

To do this, password managers typically compare the logins assigned to them to a database containing millions of passwords already traded on the dark web – mostly they come from exploited security gaps in various online services. iCloud Keychain also warns about shared passwords.

Users will soon be able to turn off warnings

If the user wants, he can hide all this in future. Apparently, iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4 offer an option to hide any password warnings, which the user can disable in the Settings in the Passwords section. After all, every hidden warning can be shown again. A new section has been introduced for hidden password warnings at the end of the list of all passwords.

It remains to be seen whether this innovation, which is currently visible in the first beta, will change before the final version is released in a few weeks. Instead, Apple is making efforts elsewhere to increase login and authentication security, as we have seen in a . did in forward message was informed.
