The Swiss curlers’ run continues unabated at the World Championships in Prince George, Canada. Melanie Barbezat, Esther Neuenschwander, Silvana Tirinzoni and Alina Patz beat South Korea 8:5 shortly after Swiss time on Friday midnight and celebrated their 10th victory in the 10th round-robin game. The CC Aarau team had already given Denmark no chance at 7:3 pm on Thursday evening.

Semi-final entry already decided

Thanks to two victories, the defending champions secured semi-final qualification before the two final preliminary round games. Only Sweden and Canada could theoretically still strike the same balance as Tirinzoni & Co. However, Switzerland won a direct duel against both.

Another win against Japan at 5:00 p.m. on Friday or against Germany on Saturday night will move Switzerland to first place in the preliminary round.

The best two teams from the round robin advance directly to the semi-finals. Nations ranked 3 through 6 made the other two semi-final places in the two “quarterfinals”.
