The Macworld report also reveals that Apple has also closed two critical security holes with the latest patch. These are initially so-called zero-day exploits that were discovered only after they were actively exploited by attackers. For example, hackers can use it to gain information from the operating system.
Apple itself writes that this is more precisely a vulnerability in the AppleAVD component. In theory, attackers could use these to “execute malicious code with kernel rights”. Another vulnerability that was closed with the update allows websites to access sensitive user information.
