Set up Google Pay: A few precautions needed

Before moving on to the actual setup process, there are a few things you need to do to get Google Pay working on your Galaxy Watch 4. This includes setting the screen lock in the clock’s settings. You can’t set up Google Pay without a screen lock with a PIN or pattern.

You must also have downloaded the Google Pay app from the Play Store on the Watch. You also need to make sure that the watch is associated with a Google account and that the NFC function is activated in the settings. Once you have ticked all these points, you can continue.

Tap “Done” at the bottom to complete the setup. Google Pay is now set up on your Galaxy Watch 4. To use the watch to pay at the supermarket checkout or ticket machine, the watch must be unlocked and the Google Pay app open.

Our Tip: Double-tapping the Home button in the watch’s settings sets up the Google Pay app as a quick action. So you don’t need to swipe round the clock at the supermarket checkout to be able to pay.
