His father is currently the focus of the transfer period as director of sport at FC Bayern Munich, and now he is right in the middle of it: Nick Salihamidczyk is leaving FCB on loan under Canada’s direction. The Vancouver Whitecaps have confirmed the 19-year-old’s move on loan. The son of the Bayern boss, who last played for the record champion’s regional league team, will initially appear for the second team of the MLS club. According to media reports, however, there are plans for a Canadian professional team as well. Salihamidzik Jr. signed a contract until the end of the 2023 season.

“We are delighted to welcome Nick to Vancouver as he takes the next step in his career,” said Vancouver Sports Director Axel Schuster. The Canadian club is looking to tap Salihamidzic’s “full potential”. “Nick was part of a very strong youth structure at Bayern Munich and we are delighted to be working with him,” Schuster continued.
The right-back, who was born in Munich, has played on all FC Bayern youth teams since 2015, but made only a few appearances after moving from U19 to another Bayern team at the start of the year. Salihamidczyk Jr. played only two competitive games in the regional league.

The Vancouver Whitecaps, who are currently in danger of missing out on a play-off spot in MLS, appear to be a good place for talent. FC Bayern has already got the advantage of this.
