Eight times closed in Mallorca

The Balearic government is serious: eight bars have to be closed due to violations of the “Anti-Booze Tourism Law” – four of them in “Ballerman”.

Eight bars in Mallorca have been forced to close until further notice, according to the regional tourism ministry in Palma on Wednesday. The background is a violation of the so-called “anti-alcohol tourism law”.

Reportedly, four of these bars are located in the “Ballermann” on Playa de Palma, which is especially popular with German visitors, the other four in the British holiday and party stronghold Magaluf. Apart from the bandh, investigations into the violation of the law were initiated in more than 90 cases.

The operators of the fine bar are accused of serving liquor outside the stipulated time and to the minors. Some will also be accused of sexist advertising and insults to women.

Officials did not say whether the affected premises were bars, discotheques, restaurants or beach kiosks. A spokesman for the Ministry of Tourism told the “Mallorca Zeitung” that this information and the name of the restaurant should not be passed on for data security reasons.
