Former US President Donald Trump is said to have buried his ex-wife Ivana at his golf course for financial reasons. According to one professor, this should save him a lot of money. This wouldn’t be the first time they’ve resorted to quirky ways to keep the place cheap.

On July 20, Ivana Trump, the ex-wife of the former US president, was buried at her ex-husband’s golf course: the grounds of the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey. The tomb is restrained. A photo of the cemetery shows only a gravestone and a small, white bouquet of flowers. In form of “Daily Mail” Citing a Twitter post by Professor Brooke Harrington, Trump may have chosen the unusual burial site for tax reasons.

Brooke Harrington is a professor of sociology at Dartmouth and describes herself as a tax researcher. He is convinced that Donald Trump put his ex-wife on the spot for financial reasons. Posting a photo of Ivana Trump’s grave on Twitter, she said, “I was wary of rumors that Trump buried his ex-wife in this sad little patch of dirt on his Bedminster, NJ golf course just for tax breaks ”

But it could have been exactly that: According to Harrington, legislation in the state provides tax savings for the land on which human remains are buried. There should be no provision for the amount of human remains needed to qualify for the tax break.

However, research by the “Daily Mail” shows that the exemption only applies as long as the property is less than ten hectares in size. Donald Trump’s estate is quite large, so the tax exemption may not apply to the entire golf club, but only to the area around the grave.

In early 2007, the former president proposed building a cemetery on the golf course to establish a family mausoleum for himself and his family members. Then, in 2014, the Trump Organization obtained permits for ten burial sites on its land.

Donald Trump has yet to comment on the tax allegations. However, the fact that he buried his ex-wife at his golf course for purely tax reasons seems unlikely, given that he himself considered his final resting place in Bedminster. And before Ivana Trump’s funeral, according to the New York Times, the Trump Organization had dedicated land in Bedminster “so that she could perform a traditional Catholic funeral”.
