Against the team of national coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg, USA still holds the top spot. The USA women’s soccer team remains number one after winning the CONCACAF Women’s Championship. The podium is completed by Sweden, which lost to hosts England in the semi-finals of the European Championship and was overtaken by Germany. As the newly crowned European champion, “Lioness” made a huge jump from eighth to fourth.

Germany’s semi-final rival France, which has slipped two places and is now ranked fifth, is one of the five best national teams in women’s football. They are followed by the Netherlands, Canada, Spain, Brazil and North Korea.

In total, no less than 221 international matches have been played since the last FIFA/Coca-Cola Women’s World Rankings on 17 June 2022. 185 FIFA member associations made it to the rankings this August, a new record. Cambodia, Turkmenistan, East Timor and Guinea-Bissau have been added to the world rankings. On October 13, 2022, the cards will be shuffled with the next updated world ranking.
