China’s e-car heading towards world record

Double world record for Chinese car brand Zeekr: The 001 model is the fastest electric car to drive and slalom in record time.

No electric car has ever made it faster – or simply no other carmaker has registered the attempt yet: the Zeekr 001 has been placed in the “Guinness Book of Records” for the fastest-driving electric vehicle with 207.996 km/h. The luxury car from the Geely Group (which also includes Volvo and Polestar) with its two electric motors delivers 544 hp and accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. Based on these achievements, the 001 broke a second record, namely the electric record for the 50 cone slalom. The sporty station wagon required 49.05 seconds for this, without knocking or touching any of the pylons.

Drift record in Guinness Book of Records

Petrol engine tops Zeekr’s drift record: In April 2016, Japanese Masato Kawabata set a world record in drifting with the 1,361 hp Nissan GT-R Nismo. He did it at a top speed of 190 mph (304.96 km/h) and replaced Poland’s Jakob Przygoski (135 mph/217.26 km/h) as the previous world record holder.

The world record in slalom with 51 cones was set in 2020 by 16-year-old Chloe Chambers in an absolute standard Porsche 718 Spyder of 47.45 seconds just under the tyres.

The Zeekr 001 has been sold in China for about a year and is currently only offered there. With such spectacular driving tests, the Chinese want to demonstrate the performance of their cars and prove they can even stand up to Tesla: The Model S Plaid draws 1,020 hp from three electric motors and runs in 2.1 seconds. attains a speed of 100 km/h.
