In June 2021 I commissioned my mini solar system and since then I have been generating energy with the help of the sun, which I use directly in my apartment and therefore do not have to pay for it. In this article, I will tell you how much energy I have produced, used myself and thus really saved over the past 12 months.

I have 460 kWh produced by my balcony power plant Effectively 340 kWh. consumes, I didn’t use 120 kWh and gave it to my grid operator. You can use a two-way electricity meter to see how much energy you’ve put into the grid. For this you do not get any compensation from the mini solar system.
i really saved so much money
A kWh currently costs me about 30 cents. so i have 102 euros saved on electricity costs, My system costs 800 euros. After eight years, the system will have paid for itself and will continue to produce electricity for the next 17 years for free, with a service life of about 25 years. If electricity prices continue to rise, my balcony power plant will pay off long ago. Either way, you make a lot of profit in the long run. And I’m not fully exploiting the potential, as you can read below.

Important details about my solar system
From June 2021 to March 2022, my solar system was on the ground and often in shadow. Ever since I hung up the solar panels (see title picture), the yield has been much better since April 2022. So I expect more yields in the next 12 monthsBut you have to make sure that you use the electricity you generate. From October to February, the Sun does not shine enough to generate much energy. There the sun is low and there is a big tree on my way, whose shadow falls on the solar panels from around 3 pm. So if you don’t have any shade, you can definitely make better use of the hours of sunshine.
This is the most important lesson for me: it is extremely important to properly align the balcony power plant. The longer you capture the Sun and then actually use the energy, the more worthwhile such a system is. But even if conditions aren’t as ideal as mine, a plug-in mini solar system is worthwhile. You just have to have room for it (right).
