Massive swathes of land have been submerged in 25 of Assam’s 33 districts, with the flood impacting 34 lakh people today. Seventy-9 persons have died in the floods.

Hundreds of wild animals have been marooned 96 wild animals such as 7 rhinos have died in the floods in Kaziranga.

Even although the Brahmaputra floodplains, including Kaziranga, continue to be underwater, the National Freeway-37 has been opened for small vehicles.
