Grobi.TV, one of the best-known German home cinema dealers, no longer wants to distribute Sony projectors to its customers. The company announced this last week, and here’s the reason: “We recently received complaints about our home projector models VPL-XW5000ES and VPL-XW7000ES in Germany. Each individual case is being carefully investigated and A preliminary analysis indicates that problems arose during transportation from our logistics center to the final destination, which we will reduce with improved shipping procedures.”
Last week, Grobi.TV justified the sales stop in a more general way by saying it had found a “disproportionately high number of equipment with quality defects” in the incoming goods department. For this reason, the dealer was unable to calibrate the equipment and was therefore unable to deliver them.
Sony extends warranty
Asked by Hedge Online, Sony said the company was “investigating the information internally and investigating each individual case to see if there were any errors”. Sony further states that it strives to provide the highest standards of product quality and customer service for all of its products. To support this, the company is extending the existing 3-year warranty with an additional 2-year warranty for every VPL-XW5000ES and VPL-XW7000ES projector purchased in Germany between October and December 2022.
Grobi.TV managing director Patrick Schapert had already scathingly criticized Sony’s “Prime Support” last year. At the time, Schapert spoke in a YouTube video about the massive problems he had while repairing a bad Sony projector. The producers then reacted by restructuring their support.
