Around the turn of the millennium, Andreas Turk was one of the most famous TV faces in Germany. But then he withdrew from the limelight. After a long time he’s sending a sign of life again – not as a moderator, but as a singer.

His return fits well with the retro wave of the ’90s: former talk show host Andreas Turk has recorded a single for the first time in 20 years. His new song is called “I’m Sorry, John”, as announced by the 54-year-old.

The song can now be found on all popular streaming services. He wanted to draw attention to the fact that there should be a better world for children, Turk says: “We are running out of time. We have to act now to leave our children a better world. And that’s just A line is not my song, but my conviction. I want to contribute to it with new singles and my popularity – because every little step counts.”

The Hamburg-based Turk composed and produced the single in collaboration with music producer and Echo Prize winner Heinrich Menzel, who worked with Udo Lindenberg, Princess and Till Bronner. Turk strikes a thoughtful note in the song “I’m Sorry, John.” He sings in English: “We’re running out of time – but I know we can make it up either way”.

not the first time as a singer

The inspiration for the project, says Turk, was the 50th anniversary of John Lennon’s peace anthem “Imagine.” He wanted to apologize with “I’m sorry, John” for the worrying state of the world. With his son, to whom he dedicates the new song – and with his idol John Lennon.

Türck is best known for his ProSieben talk show of the same name, which aired from 1998 to 2002. But he also moderated several other formats, such as “LoveStories” or “Abentuer Leben”. According to his own statements, he led a total of 1300 TV programs.

Turk has also tried his hand at singing. After the turn of the millennium, for example, they released the songs “Shining Star” and “Don’t Say That You Love Me.” For many years he has been particularly active as an entrepreneur and is also involved in the areas of sustainability and environmental protection.
