Software error: call back to Mercedes

Software update for Vito and Sprinter van models from Mercedes: Due to an error, drivers may find it difficult to see backwards.

Problems can arise with image transmission from the reversing camera on the Vito and Sprinter. This is why Mercedes is calling some vehicles from these model series into the workshops for software updates:

In the case of the Sprinter 907 and 910 series (production period March 2018 to December 2021), the image from the rear camera may not be visible on the central screen before reversing, as the “kfz-rueckrufe” portal reports. Instead, either nothing happens or a black screen appears with a warning that the image is not working. There are 74,762 sprinters affected worldwide, a good third of them in Germany.

With the Vito 447 series manufactured between April 2014 and July 2020, the camera’s image may “freeze” while maneuvering, i.e. a still image is suddenly displayed. Since the objects are then unrecognizable, the risk of collision increases. This is particularly an issue for transporters, as these are not particularly apparent due to their size and closed loading areas. Vehicles in six digit numbers are affected.
