Pochers opened a new branch of the fast food in Bochum on Tuesday. Three, two, one: Then it rained confetti and there was a burger cake.
Oliver and Amira Pocher opened a new branch of McDonald’s in Bochum on Tuesday. After the countdown, a confetti cannon went off, then Pocher and his wife Amira cut a mega cake in the shape of a Big Mac. According to “Bild,” “there are now energy drinks and sparkling wine for the kids and burgers for the adults,” Pocher called out to the approximately 200 guests in attendance. Then it was eaten.
“I do everything,” Oliver Pacher said according to Westdeutscher Allgemeine Zeitung (WAZ) regarding his appearance at the promotional event. He also visits the Galleria Kaufhof when needed.
What many do not know: Oliver Pocher is the patron of the Children’s Emergency Assistance Program of the American burger chain. According to its own statements, Children’s Aid provides housing for families with seriously ill children near hospitals.
However, it begs the question whether the media opening of a burger branch with unhealthy food for children and adults is actually related to the actions of patrons of the Children’s Emergency Assistance Program. A spokeswoman for McDonald’s told T-Online, “Yesterday’s involvement of Oliver Pocher was not related to his patronage at Sanct Augustin.” According to WAZ, the comedian also admitted, “His presence was not entirely voluntary.”
